NYC/Easton's Poor Sportsmanship/CMA awards

Wow...almost December already! Seems like I just wrote my last blog, it was a month ago already. :)

November went by fast, which I guess is a good thing, people are starting to put up Christmas lights now (even though we had ours up for 2 weeks already :))

Wednesday afternoon/evening we were in NYC. Part of mom's company (Linde) supply's the helium for all the balloons at the Macy's Parade, so every year they bus workers and their families into the city (for free!!!) just to walk around and watch all this happen. Pretty sweet deal if you ask me. Anyway, so we decided to partake in that this year.

Well for being the worst travel day of the year, I have no complaints. Left here around 1, we were in the city walking around by 2:30-2:45. We all agreed to leave by 7, and when everyone agreed on that I thought "Wow, ONLY 4 hours?" But seriously, those 4 hours were AMAZING. The balloons were lined up and down streets around "The Museum of Natural History", so we just walked around the route and got some pics. We did have the opportunity to go see the floats too, but they were all scattered about (thinking back we should have gone but...).

By the time we were done looking at them, it was 4:00...ONLY 4:00!! So what do we do now.....

We didn't want to eat dinner in the city, we had a bag of food packed on the bus so it would just be a waste. Our bus driver told us to meet the bus back at Columbus & 72nd street at 6:45, okay, plenty of time to do what now?

Me and my mom, alone in the city. (My dad always comes with us, so this was a first.) We took the opportunity to walk in and out of shops down Columbus street with clothes $700+ and just Oohh and Ahhh. At about 5ish, we found the Barnes and Noble. We were getting a little hungry, so we decided lets stop here for some coffee and maybe a cookie.

First we walked around the store for a bit, went down in the basement, then the escalator had a sign pointing up for the cafe. Okay, 2 floors, ain't so bad. 2nd floor, another escalator with the same sign. Okay...up we go again. 3rd floor, once again, same pattern here. Up again...finally reached the cafe, 4th floor. So including the basement, we were in a Barnes and Noble, with 5 freaking floors....pretty awesome :) Got my coffee and a cookie, we looked around there for a little, and then by that time, it was 5:45. An hour til we had to get back on the bus.

We figured we would start working our way back towards 72nd street, didn't really wanna miss the bus. :) Got back there, it was only 6:00, bus wasn't there. :/ Okay...lets walk around the block. Well, we repeated the process of walking around blocks and coming back to that corner about 3 times. Finally when it was 6:30, we figured we would just wait at the corner. Besides, we saw some people from the other bus standing there too. (Only reason I knew was because the people on our bus had purple glow sticks and the other bus had red ones :))

Bus finally pulls up right at 7, board the bus, and we are on our way out of the city. Get out of the Lincoln Tunnel, well, there's a bit of a problem here. I'm scared to death of VERY. HIGH. BRIDGES. It's not like this one was very high, but I also don't like being in stopped traffic on them either. So we're going up on this bridge, and I'm freaking out. Freaking out as in panicking, breathing heavy, and believe this, I even turned on my Sugarland playlist on my iPod, THAT didn't even help!! See, now that's a pretty bad fear if hearing Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush's voices doesn't calm me down. So that lasted about 15 minutes until we were over all the bridges and off 95 and back onto 78 :)

Got back to Linde at 8:30, and back home within 5 minutes. :) Okay, well, that was that day. :)

Thanksgiving Day/Turkey Day/Turkey Day Game Day, whatever you wanna call it :) This was the 103rd game of Easton High School vs. Phillipsburg High School (Google it if your clueless). I have a lot of complaining about this one....

I was a Rover at once (Easton=Rovers P'burg=Stateliners), I lived in Pennsylvania (Easton=PA P'burg=NJ)(Confusing...you'll get it eventually) But my point here is, just poor sportsmanship from Easton. Yeah, I will say this, my attitude has changed since I moved, it was the part of town I lived in. The main street in Southside Easton, PA. Drug dealers walking up and down the street at all times of the night, bar behind my house, drunk guys taking a crap by my garage, drunk guys SLEEPING on my driveway, yeah, it was just bad.

Point here is, I had that "gangster attitude", you know, "Dunt b3 h@tn, W!f3y, Fo Sho", I'll stop there. Yeah, believe it or not, this girl acted like that (for all of just 1 year or 2, from the time I was 11-13). And yeah, I look back at it, and I am ashamed of how I acted. I pretty much would tell people right out, "it's this way, and if you don't like it, go to hell" (except I didn't really say hell). See...I'm ashamed of how I acted-embarrassed, ashamed. But it was the way I grew up, not that I was raised that way, but where I was raised.

So now that I got that down and covered, imagine about 1,000 people with this attitude. All at the same football game. This bunch of people would be called "The Rover Nation." School-spirited-freaked-out-assholes. They decided to chant numerous times throughout the game "F&^% you P'burg" and "F%& the liners". On the way out, we were screamed at, and sworn at, something you just don't do at a high school football game. Best part is, we even lost! Okay, I could see this happening if we won, but we lost!!! 26-10. Easton's got some class huh?-NOT!!!!!!

Believe it or not, some Rovers are proud of that. Stupid right? Yeah, it is. It's amazing how different the towns are just by crossing a river.

Anyway, I'm done with my rant. Lots of things have happened since last time I posted. Halloween, Jennifer Nettles costume went well BTW. :) No one knew who I was, but still, my scavenger hunt for my costume was a success, so that's the only thing I'm happy about :)

CMA awards...AMAZING :) Duo of the year~SUGARLAND!!! (Of course) :) I'm still shocked of Taylor's awards though, considering it wasn't fan voted. Album of the year, I could see that because many were sold. Female vocalist-she was up against Reba for god sakes!! REBA!!!! Who else was in that category? Lets see, Taylor Swift, Reba, Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood, and Martina Mcbride. Not saying Taylor isn't a great artist, but for god sakes!! Now Entertainer Of The Year took the cake.....

I'm laying in bed, 10:55, and EOTY is being announced. Taylor Swift, Brad Paisley, George Strait, Kenny Chesney, and Keith Urban-ALL besides Taylor, are practically legends (well now she is now for winning it). Let's review:...

Kenny, how many EOTY awards has he won?!?!? Too freaking many to count. All his summer tours, people love em! He's a fabulous entertainer and I really was hoping he would have taken that award home that night.

Keith, another Legend!! Sure he's not Kenny, but he's still a damn good entertainer.

Brad, ahhh, Brad. Now I wasn't always a big fan of Brad, but lately, I have been. Sure, I don't like ALL of his songs, but some are good. he plays sold out shows. Just so happens he played one by me back in September. He really connected with the fans too.

Georgie!! George Strait! Now this guy is known as "The King Of Country." Sure when he dies the whole world isn't going to pause for 2 weeks like Micheal Jackson, but still, sure he doesn't do what Kenny does, but he can still get crowds going.

Taylor, miss local Taylor Swift. (Yeah, you know that town where she's from? Wyomissing PA, that's an hour from here) :) I swear I hear more about her than I hear about MY OWN TOWN!!!! Stupid local newspaper....
anywayyy...she's 19. Turning 20 on December 13th, how I know this, she shares the same b-day as my mom :) ANYWAY! She's 5 years older than me, started becoming popular at 16, when I first heard "Time Mcgraw" on the radio, I was 11. I thought it was just some local girl trying to become popular but it wasn't going to work out, hell was I wrong. She's a crossover artist, that's the thing I don't like about her. Her first CD was country, her second is more like pop than country. Don't get me wrong, I like her, but she just took on her first headlining tour THIS YEAR---2009. I'm sorry, I could vent about this awhile...I'm just saying, I really don't think she deserved that award.

Well, thanks for listening to my rant. :) Next time you'll hear from me---will probably be in a week :) Tree lighting in NYC on Wednesday...woo!!! :)

Checking in

Don't worry, I haven't forgotten about this here blog :) I have just been super busy. Lets see, last post...AUGUST! Insane, I know, seems like I just wrote that whole novel about summer being over and what not and here it is, the end of October!

Since my last update, I've done so much it's not even funny. School started, which by the way is going GREAT. Almost time for first semester midterms! :/ In the beginning of September, we made our way over to the Allentown Fair, 20 minutes away and do you believe I've never been there before this year? Anyway, AWESOME fair, Brad Paisley just happened to be there that night. No, I didn't get to see him, but I did get some souvenirs like pictures of the BRAD PAISLEYS TRAILERS :) Yeah I'm the only person that is probably fascinated by that kind of stuff.

September seemed to fly by, literally. I mean, it went slow, but fast, you know what I mean?

Next stop, October 1st, Bloomsburg, PA. This was really one of the most AMAZING nights of my life. Most of you hopefully know by now that I have an obsession with the band, Sugarland. Obsession meaning I have every single CD, a signed poster, a t-shirt, a keychain, background on computer is Sugarland, Twitter background also, and the other night, I got an email saying I won the Fan Club contest and I just got a signed autographed cover of "Gold and Green". :)

Anyway, October 1st was Sugarland's show at the Bloomsburg Fair, which I must add, 110% bigger, and more awesome than the Allentown Fair. Okay, back on task here. SUGARLAND CONCERT. We walked into the grandstands
around 7ish, went over to the merch stand, poster, keychain, t-shirt, and by the time that was done, up to our seats we go!

Luckily, there was no opening act, so right around 7:30, Jenn and Kristian came out and their first song was "Love". Which....I absolutely LOVE
that song! The energy in it is just....wow. "Settlin" was after that. Then Jenn read the posters throughout the audience, which some of the things that come out of her mouth, are pretty freaking funny! Ha! The rest of the order went, "It Happens", "Baby Girl", "Want To", "Nightswimming/Joey", "Already Gone", and "Genevieve". Right after "Genevieve" they did their little guitar giveaway. A little girl got it, her face was just too cute though when Kristian handed it to her! Then came "All I Want To Do", "Everyday America", "Stay" (yes I did cry :)), "Who Says' You Can't Go Home", in the middle of that Jenn did the band introductions, then lastly came "Something More". For their encore came "So Long", which is a new song and I can't wait til it comes out :) and "Walking On Sunshine".

The whole show lasted til 9, which was fine for me, but some people felt the need to complain....ppsshh... :/ Then came the fun of trying to exit the fairgrounds.....

For one thing, Miss stupid here was wearing sandals, yes sandals, a short sleeved shirt, and a sweater, yeah, might have passed down here in Jersey, northern Pennsylvania, not so much. I will say this though, I was FINE during the
concert, ABSOLUTELY FINE! Maybe because I was at major freak out level or just because of all the people there (body heat), or BOTH! But as soon as we walked out of the grandstands, I began to feel the wind chill alright.

I remember walking out, holding my big stuffed dog, and trying to tweet from my phone to Sugarland saying how AMAZING the concert was; not the easiest thing to do when your holding a giant stuffed dog and your fingers are freezing. We decided to check out a few more things before we decided to hit the road, like some of the barns and such. Realistically we just wanted to get back to the car, we were both freezing. So after a few visits to a few of the barns (and of course to see the reindeer there too), we decided to head out towards the parking lot and try to find the car. Car wasn't too hard to find, my mom remembered what section it was in luckily. After all the excitement, I pretty much blacked out of reality.

Got into the car, I put on my"festive socks" that I brought along with me because I kinda had a feeling that after wearing sandals, my feet were gonna be cold. :) Okay, all fine and good, we pulled out of our row and onto the one street to the way out.

Well, we ended up behind one of the shuttles (which was just a tracker pulling a trailer with some seats). Lets just call the shuttle driver Bob, because Bob is going to be mentioned a lot. Well, traffic decided to stop moving, and from where we were, we couldn't see if the cars were pulling out in the row in front of where we were parked or not. So Bob decides to turn tracker off, and get out. Okay, that's all fine and good. After another half hour of sitting behind Bob's tracker, we saw that the row of traffic I was talking about, was in fact moving, along with the cars in front of Bob's tracker. And where are we, RIGHT BEHIND BOB!!! So while Bob is walking around in circles on his cell phone, my mom is in FREAK OUT MODE. Okay, another 10 minutes go by, Bob still hasn't moved tracker. Mom decides, "hey, maybe I can squeeze this little Hyundai between the tracker and this new VW SUV" Don't worry, no stupids pulled here. We squeezed through and got ahead of Bob's tracker :)

Traffic sadly is still stopped. 10:30 now. Bob decides to come and get back in his tracker. Mom decides to pull the "Oh now you ain't" move and keep inching up until he can't pull ahead of us. Well now that we are ahead of him, the traffic finally started moving at a somewhat good rate. We got up to where the "Welcome to the Bloomsburg Fair" sign is, and it hit us. "How the hell do we get back to 80?" Since mother here decided to follow the directions in that they have "blinking" on the highway, I felt no need to help because I figured she knew where she was going (not really but whatever) :/ *Note to self*: Lightstreet exit next year, not Buckhorn, Lightstreet.
Oh, and the picture here, I took it on my phone as soon as we got into the car, it's of the stuffed dog I've been talking about. Lets just say before the Sugarland concert, I decided to pass the time by playing a few games. I got even with that basketball game....FINALLY! :)

Annyyywaaayyyy, we pulled out to where the Po-Po were directing traffic, and there was the 80 sign there. Soooo, the dark 2 mile journey back up 42, onto 80 east. By this time, it's 10:40, and yeah, it hits me...I'm tired. :) And we still have another 2+ hour drive home. :)

So we stopped in a tiny little town just a few miles outside of Bloomsburg for a Mickey D's soda. Until we got back to the PA/NJ border, I pretty much just relived the night. Attempted to watch the videos I took on my camera, but the issues with the batteries...eehh, yeah, that was a fail. Talked to my friend via twitter for about a half hour, then pretty much stared at the mile markers and exit signs. 277, 282, 290, Oh Penna TurnPike finally!, 298, 301, Old exit 50, route 611, Delaware Water Gap, YES, finally, the bridge into NJ. So we go through this little town called Columbia, mom almost gets lost, but we got back onto Route 46 okay. Now here's the good story, the Belvidere Po-Po story. :)

Now all the locals know that Belvidere is Po-Po central. You go at 26 mph and you got yourself a ticket. Well, it's 12:45, and we're driving through Belvidere, and we're the only car on the road. Well there was us, and a cop. So we come up to the only stoplight in the town, we're going the speed limit, but, the light happens to turn yellow right before we go through it. We were going too fast to stop, but too slow to keep going. So it was just that moment where you had to decide, and we decided to go through it. Well, Mr. Officer that was sitting at the corner, decides to pull us over. Okay, you know the drill, cop comes up with the flashlight, "license and registration ma'am." He asks where we're coming from, and just lets us go, considering he saw me and assumed that I had school the next day.
Yeahh, so the next 15 minutes or so back down to P'burg were of laughs and jokes...considering that the light technically wasn't red yet. :) Well, 2:30 was when I got to bed that night/morning, and when I got up at 6:20, yeah that didn't go so well. All I
remember was my mom waking me up, me getting out of bed and falling on the floor about 2 or 3 times, walking down the hallway and mom saying "How do you feel?" with my reply "LIKE CRAP!" She told me to go back to bed, thus I slept til about 9:45 :)

Well, I know this blog was really supposed to be just "checking in", but I'm still not done! At least you know it's more than halfway over :) I tend to ramble on about Sugarland a lot.

Next couple of weeks flew by. I mean, it's almost Halloween already! But something AMAZING happened a week or so ago (I'm not bragging here, just stating my excitement :)) On the Sugarland Fan Club, there was a trivia contest going on that Shani (media/marketing for Sugarland) had announced on Twitter. So I log onto the Fan Club, and there was the contest posted, and I saw nothing besides what Shani had posted, on Twitter. So I quickly opened up a new tab and went to my mail. The question was "How many #1 singles has Sugarland had?" Well, I'm not that schmart, so of course I had to go look it up. :) Okay, 7, got it, posted everything I had to into the email, clicked send, and that was it pretty much. I thought to myself "The chances that I win this are one in a million, doubt it's gonna happen."

A week later I get an email from All Access Today sayingg....I WON! Amazing <3>

Now, as I sit here and finish typing this up, I'm realizing it took me most of October to finish it (true story, I didn't write this all in one day, I'm not THAT insane :)) Still need to get Taylor Swift's new CD :) Also excited for "Play On" to come out next week :) Oh, and BTW...I'm being Jenn Nettles for Halloween :) You'll all hear about that eventually. :)

So thanks for reading my novel. My English teacher would be proud. :)

Summer's coming to an end....

I know...sad right? Seems like it has just started. I had a lot of great memories this summer. Even though I didn't see my friends that I go to school with all that much (okay maybe only twice :)) I did see some that I talk to via twitter and youtube, and a few that I used to go to school with. Heck, I even started talking to one of my friends from my Catholic School that I was about ready to get a restraining order against! Turned out she decided to grow up during Freshman year.

First week of Summer

Probably my favorite part of Summer. You always think it's going to last forever then, it's when you always hang out with your friends and you just feel free.

So here is a picture of me and a few friends (if they see this they're gonna kill me). It was at my friend Mary's birthday party (one with the black shirt on) which was the day after we got out of school. It was fun, we always manage to do something crazy when she gets everyone all together. This was just a few of us that were all there...I couldn't find a "normal" picture of everyone there, we all look like idiots. :)

A week went by, wasn't too fast, but it was fast, and I was in Chincoteague. <3 The view from my hotel was just absolutely AMAZING!! Definitely one of the best beaches to ever go to.

Next stop, 4th of July. Well, I'm probably the only person that you will ever meet that has never been to a picnic on the 4th. Yupp, true story. Never been to a 4th of July picnic. So we basicly sat in the house all day getting ready to go on vacation #2 of the summer, that would be Kentucky. Of course though, I've never missed seeing fireworks on the 4th. Whether it would be sitting on my deck in my backyard back in Easton, sitting down at the Riverside, sitting in the middle of a football stadium, or going to Bethlehem, (which for the past 2 years has been a tradition with me and my one friend, we'll get back to that later) I would never miss them. Then there was always the 4th at my Grammy's house. Her birthday just happened to be the same day, so we would really celebrate. What better way to celebrate than Uncle Joey's homemade fireworks? I'll tell you this, the guy's lucky he still has a head. Back to the Bethlehem fireworks, me and my friend have seem to somehow make this a tradition. This year we decided to have fun with my camera, and take pictures of us making goofy faces (this lasted about an hour) and some of them, priceless! Of course, I won't post them here (She lives 10-15 minutes from me but she would storm over here in a heartbeat and probably start beating me in my sleep.) But as usual, fireworks are fireworks, you have the screaming little kids in front of you and the person behind you having a coughing fit, but hey, it's all part of the experience.
Alright, so one week passes, and it's time to head down to Kentucky, the wonderful 12 hour mountainous drive :) Turns out the stupid person I am didn't get any sleep that night, so my alarm goes off at 2:00am, and at this point I'm freaking out, thinking that it's just going to be a miserable day (I can't sleep in cars, sadly.) I went downstairs and poured myself a cup of coffee out though, so after that I was pretty wide awake.

Went to Wawa then and got ice, and another cup of coffee, and we headed out. Well, we crossed the bridge over to PA, and we totally forgot they were replacing the street lights on Route 22 around Cemetery Curve (it's called that for a number of reasons, send me a tweet and I'll explain.). So there we are, only car on the road (it's 3:30am on a Sunday) and it's pitch black. Just wonderful. Once we were out of that mess and there were streetlights, I felt a little better. "Everyday America" came on, made me very happy. :)
An hour later, we're halfway to Harrisburg, and by this time were on Route 78. Now if your from around my area, you know that Lenhartsville is not a place where you want to be at 4:00am. That's the time were truck drivers think "Oh, lets drive at 80mph and race eachother! No one's on the road!" Thus, ending in killing people in the cars. So we're out there in Lenhartsville, and I wasn't stressed, until we ran into fog. Very. bad. fog. Then come the semi's speeding past us. Wonderful isn't it? (I know, I get stressed to easily.)

The rest of the drive was fine. No more panic attacks (except for maybe being on the very top of WV mountains, other than that, I was fine! :)) We got into Lexington around 4ish, not too bad! We headed out to a Chinese Resturant that we hadn't been to in 5 years. I forgot that the food was actually pretty gross, and our waiter...was just...WEIRD!!! Really, no other way to describe it than that. We went back to the hotel, and pretty muched crashed. 37 hours without sleep takes a toll on you :)
Monday-nothing exciting happened...just a near visit to the Georgetown Community Hospital :) Yeahh...long story, aparently not having coffee in the morning can make you pass out? Hahahahaa...fun!! I won't get into that story too much :)
So the week flew by fast, too fast. I saw a friend that I've known since I was 11, we caught up a little bit, and I also saw a friend that I've only known for a year, but feel like it's been more than that. I think one night we talked for close to 3 hours! Crazy! I think that is the part I look forward to the most about vacation, seeing all my friends that I don't see throughout the year.

Saturday we went to RUPP ARENA!! You know...Rupp Arena, were SUGARLAND filmed LIVE ON THE INSIDE. Yeah, I was there! Not for the concert sadly, but still :) Last year, I went into the actually arena and got a few pics, (which was awwweeesssommmeee!!! I got to watch them set up for Robert Plant and Alison Krauss!!) and I might be able to get in there and get some pics again next year. :) The picture is from last year BTW :)
After we came back from Kentucky just seems like it was all a blur. I mean, the rest of the summer, just seemed to be a blur. I got my "Live on the Inside" CD, (Come on, don't think I wasn't going to squeeze something Sugarland related here) and...that was pretty much the only thing I can remember! This summer was definitely a great summer. I'll remember it starting off watching the CMT awards, and I'll remember it ending raining...how depressing? lol. But hey, I did talk my mom into taking me to a Sugarland concert ---> :) October 1st!!! YESSS!!!

Thanks for reading my loooonnnggg post :)
