NYC/Easton's Poor Sportsmanship/CMA awards

Wow...almost December already! Seems like I just wrote my last blog, it was a month ago already. :)

November went by fast, which I guess is a good thing, people are starting to put up Christmas lights now (even though we had ours up for 2 weeks already :))

Wednesday afternoon/evening we were in NYC. Part of mom's company (Linde) supply's the helium for all the balloons at the Macy's Parade, so every year they bus workers and their families into the city (for free!!!) just to walk around and watch all this happen. Pretty sweet deal if you ask me. Anyway, so we decided to partake in that this year.

Well for being the worst travel day of the year, I have no complaints. Left here around 1, we were in the city walking around by 2:30-2:45. We all agreed to leave by 7, and when everyone agreed on that I thought "Wow, ONLY 4 hours?" But seriously, those 4 hours were AMAZING. The balloons were lined up and down streets around "The Museum of Natural History", so we just walked around the route and got some pics. We did have the opportunity to go see the floats too, but they were all scattered about (thinking back we should have gone but...).

By the time we were done looking at them, it was 4:00...ONLY 4:00!! So what do we do now.....

We didn't want to eat dinner in the city, we had a bag of food packed on the bus so it would just be a waste. Our bus driver told us to meet the bus back at Columbus & 72nd street at 6:45, okay, plenty of time to do what now?

Me and my mom, alone in the city. (My dad always comes with us, so this was a first.) We took the opportunity to walk in and out of shops down Columbus street with clothes $700+ and just Oohh and Ahhh. At about 5ish, we found the Barnes and Noble. We were getting a little hungry, so we decided lets stop here for some coffee and maybe a cookie.

First we walked around the store for a bit, went down in the basement, then the escalator had a sign pointing up for the cafe. Okay, 2 floors, ain't so bad. 2nd floor, another escalator with the same sign. Okay...up we go again. 3rd floor, once again, same pattern here. Up again...finally reached the cafe, 4th floor. So including the basement, we were in a Barnes and Noble, with 5 freaking floors....pretty awesome :) Got my coffee and a cookie, we looked around there for a little, and then by that time, it was 5:45. An hour til we had to get back on the bus.

We figured we would start working our way back towards 72nd street, didn't really wanna miss the bus. :) Got back there, it was only 6:00, bus wasn't there. :/ Okay...lets walk around the block. Well, we repeated the process of walking around blocks and coming back to that corner about 3 times. Finally when it was 6:30, we figured we would just wait at the corner. Besides, we saw some people from the other bus standing there too. (Only reason I knew was because the people on our bus had purple glow sticks and the other bus had red ones :))

Bus finally pulls up right at 7, board the bus, and we are on our way out of the city. Get out of the Lincoln Tunnel, well, there's a bit of a problem here. I'm scared to death of VERY. HIGH. BRIDGES. It's not like this one was very high, but I also don't like being in stopped traffic on them either. So we're going up on this bridge, and I'm freaking out. Freaking out as in panicking, breathing heavy, and believe this, I even turned on my Sugarland playlist on my iPod, THAT didn't even help!! See, now that's a pretty bad fear if hearing Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush's voices doesn't calm me down. So that lasted about 15 minutes until we were over all the bridges and off 95 and back onto 78 :)

Got back to Linde at 8:30, and back home within 5 minutes. :) Okay, well, that was that day. :)

Thanksgiving Day/Turkey Day/Turkey Day Game Day, whatever you wanna call it :) This was the 103rd game of Easton High School vs. Phillipsburg High School (Google it if your clueless). I have a lot of complaining about this one....

I was a Rover at once (Easton=Rovers P'burg=Stateliners), I lived in Pennsylvania (Easton=PA P'burg=NJ)(Confusing...you'll get it eventually) But my point here is, just poor sportsmanship from Easton. Yeah, I will say this, my attitude has changed since I moved, it was the part of town I lived in. The main street in Southside Easton, PA. Drug dealers walking up and down the street at all times of the night, bar behind my house, drunk guys taking a crap by my garage, drunk guys SLEEPING on my driveway, yeah, it was just bad.

Point here is, I had that "gangster attitude", you know, "Dunt b3 h@tn, W!f3y, Fo Sho", I'll stop there. Yeah, believe it or not, this girl acted like that (for all of just 1 year or 2, from the time I was 11-13). And yeah, I look back at it, and I am ashamed of how I acted. I pretty much would tell people right out, "it's this way, and if you don't like it, go to hell" (except I didn't really say hell). See...I'm ashamed of how I acted-embarrassed, ashamed. But it was the way I grew up, not that I was raised that way, but where I was raised.

So now that I got that down and covered, imagine about 1,000 people with this attitude. All at the same football game. This bunch of people would be called "The Rover Nation." School-spirited-freaked-out-assholes. They decided to chant numerous times throughout the game "F&^% you P'burg" and "F%& the liners". On the way out, we were screamed at, and sworn at, something you just don't do at a high school football game. Best part is, we even lost! Okay, I could see this happening if we won, but we lost!!! 26-10. Easton's got some class huh?-NOT!!!!!!

Believe it or not, some Rovers are proud of that. Stupid right? Yeah, it is. It's amazing how different the towns are just by crossing a river.

Anyway, I'm done with my rant. Lots of things have happened since last time I posted. Halloween, Jennifer Nettles costume went well BTW. :) No one knew who I was, but still, my scavenger hunt for my costume was a success, so that's the only thing I'm happy about :)

CMA awards...AMAZING :) Duo of the year~SUGARLAND!!! (Of course) :) I'm still shocked of Taylor's awards though, considering it wasn't fan voted. Album of the year, I could see that because many were sold. Female vocalist-she was up against Reba for god sakes!! REBA!!!! Who else was in that category? Lets see, Taylor Swift, Reba, Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood, and Martina Mcbride. Not saying Taylor isn't a great artist, but for god sakes!! Now Entertainer Of The Year took the cake.....

I'm laying in bed, 10:55, and EOTY is being announced. Taylor Swift, Brad Paisley, George Strait, Kenny Chesney, and Keith Urban-ALL besides Taylor, are practically legends (well now she is now for winning it). Let's review:...

Kenny, how many EOTY awards has he won?!?!? Too freaking many to count. All his summer tours, people love em! He's a fabulous entertainer and I really was hoping he would have taken that award home that night.

Keith, another Legend!! Sure he's not Kenny, but he's still a damn good entertainer.

Brad, ahhh, Brad. Now I wasn't always a big fan of Brad, but lately, I have been. Sure, I don't like ALL of his songs, but some are good. he plays sold out shows. Just so happens he played one by me back in September. He really connected with the fans too.

Georgie!! George Strait! Now this guy is known as "The King Of Country." Sure when he dies the whole world isn't going to pause for 2 weeks like Micheal Jackson, but still, sure he doesn't do what Kenny does, but he can still get crowds going.

Taylor, miss local Taylor Swift. (Yeah, you know that town where she's from? Wyomissing PA, that's an hour from here) :) I swear I hear more about her than I hear about MY OWN TOWN!!!! Stupid local newspaper....
anywayyy...she's 19. Turning 20 on December 13th, how I know this, she shares the same b-day as my mom :) ANYWAY! She's 5 years older than me, started becoming popular at 16, when I first heard "Time Mcgraw" on the radio, I was 11. I thought it was just some local girl trying to become popular but it wasn't going to work out, hell was I wrong. She's a crossover artist, that's the thing I don't like about her. Her first CD was country, her second is more like pop than country. Don't get me wrong, I like her, but she just took on her first headlining tour THIS YEAR---2009. I'm sorry, I could vent about this awhile...I'm just saying, I really don't think she deserved that award.

Well, thanks for listening to my rant. :) Next time you'll hear from me---will probably be in a week :) Tree lighting in NYC on Wednesday...woo!!! :)
